Frank Lloyd Wright Dana-Thomas Bar Stool

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was America's pioneer of modern architecture, whose influence on European modernists and generations of US architects has been incalculable. He broke with Victorian tradition about 1900 to create the Prairie Style, the origin of millions of modern American house designs. He brought Organic Architecture to fruition in the 1920s-30s, basing structures on natural forms and producing buildings -- like "Fallingwater" in Pennsylvania and the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan -- that are at one with their outdoor environments. A brilliant designer of furniture, textiles, stained glass, and interior detail, he always presented his clients with a completely integrated concept, from the building itself right through to the light fixtures and the rug patterns.

Copeland Furniture is the exclusive licensee of Wright's furniture designs. Each piece of Frank Lloyd Wright® Furniture by Copeland is named after the house for which he designed it, and bears Wright’s signature, date of manufacture, and a unique serial number.

When Wright created socialite Susan Dana's great house in the early 20th century, the bar stool hadn't become a common fixture in homes, being relegated to saloons and club bars. But the modern barstool is a piece of domestic furnishing now, and the Dana-Thomas Bar Stool shows how well the architect's basic idea adapts to an unexpected need. The same solid hardwood construction and refinement of detail go into its construction as in the Side Chair on which it is based, and you'll find it a comfortable, highly functional seat at home bar or counter -- with more elegance and pedigree than a lot of its peers! The Frank Lloyd Wright Dana-Thomas Bar Stool is entirely constructed in either quartersawn oak or cherry, using fine carpentry techniques. Each wood is available in 2 different finishes, and the cushion may be ordered in either fabric or leather in a wide range of colors.

  • Slightly slanted back for ergonomic support
