Frank Lloyd Wright Coonley Nesting End Table
Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was America's pioneer of modern architecture, whose influence on European modernists and generations of US architects has been incalculable. He broke with Victorian tradition about 1900 to create the Prairie Style, the origin of millions of modern American house designs. He brought Organic Architecture to fruition in the 1920s-30s, basing structures on natural forms and producing buildings -- like "Fallingwater" in Pennsylvania and the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan -- that are at one with their outdoor environments. A brilliant designer of furniture, textiles, stained glass, and interior detail, he always presented his clients with a completely integrated concept, from the building itself right through to the light fixtures and the rug patterns.
Copeland Furniture is the exclusive licensee of Wright's furniture designs. Each piece of Frank Lloyd Wright® Furniture by Copeland is named after the house for which he designed it, and bears Wright’s signature, date of manufacture, and a unique serial number.
The idea of saving space with pieces that can be stacked or nested with a single "footprint" when not in use is an old one -- but as the photos of the Coonley Nesting Tables show, there are nesting tables and then there are Wright's nesting tables. When the smaller modern end table, with its precisely in-cut corners, is fitted into its place within the larger, you have a unified design, as if the two were meant always to be united. Yet each is perfectly proportioned and useful on its own. The Coonley Nesting Tables are constructed in either of 2 hardwoods, solid cherry or quartersawn oak, each in a choice of 2 finishes.
- Smaller, secondary table that can be stored inside primary table
