Born in 1927, Pierre Paulin
is revered as one of the most influential French designers of the 20th
century. Emerging as a talented aspiring furniture designer in the early
1950's, he quickly developed a prestigious reputation. Early on in his
career, his works were compared by many to the likes of Eames, Saarinen
and Bertoia. In 1956, Paulin joined Artifort. It was there that many of
his designs received the support necessary to facilitate production. At
present, almost 50 years later, many of these pieces are still in production,
and have become definitive, signature works of mid-century furniture design.
